AMERICAN CONSULATE GENERAL’S SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION SESSION

In the morning of the 19th of December, on behalf of Dong Thap University, Mr. Luong Thanh Tan - Vice rector; Mr. Le Chanh Truc - Director of Informatics and Foreign Languages Center; Mr. Pham Van Tac, lecturer of Foreign Languages Teacher Education Department warmly welcomed Mr. Matthew Alexander Ference – Public Affairs Officer and Ms. Le Thi Kim Muon – Cultural Affairs Assistant from American Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, Mr. Matthew Alexander Ference introduced scholarship programs as follows: SUSHI (Study of the U.S. Institutes) for student leaders to the United States for five-to-six-week academic programs; YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative) for undergraduates to the United States for a five-week program; UGRAD (Global Undergraduate Exchange Program) for undergraduate students to the United States for one semester program. These above scholarship programs will enable successful candidates to improve their understanding of the United States; to develop their leadership skills; to experience cultural differences; and to improve useful knowledge and skills for themselves. Mr. Matthew Alexander Ference expressed that: “American Consulate General hopes that Dong Thap University will enthusiastically encourage students to apply for these above scholarships”


At the end of the meeting, Mr. Luong Thanh Tan showed his excitement and his thank – you for the US Consulate General’s visiting and working. He also emphasized that after this meeting, he would make a plan to encourage eligible lecturers and students to apply for the scholarship programs.
