In 2026, Dong Thap University (DThU) plans to enroll 6,470 students across 58 training programs. The highlight of this year’s admission cycle is the launch of 6 new STEM majors, along with the implementation of preferential credit policies to support learners’ access to higher education.

Aligning Training with Labor Market Needs

In response to the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the economic growth model transformation in the Mekong Delta region, Dong Thap University has proactively reviewed, adjusted, and developed training programs with an application‑oriented approach, emphasizing practical skills and real‑world relevance. The planned enrollment of 6,470 students for 58 programs in 2026 demonstrates the University’s efforts to expand learning opportunities while affirming its role within the regional higher education system.

In 2026, the University’s academic offerings will be expanded with 6 new majors of strategic significance, including: Cybersecurity; Biology; Physics; Agricultural Technology; Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Semiconductor Technology); and Transportation Construction Engineering. These programs are designed to develop professional competencies, adaptability, and the ability to meet workforce demands in high‑need sectors.

A representative of Dong Thap University stated that “the introduction of new STEM majors not only addresses immediate workforce needs but also aims toward the long‑term goal of preparing a highly skilled labor force to support digital infrastructure development, high‑tech industries, and modern agriculture.”

Support Policies for New STEM Majors

Alongside the introduction of new programs, Dong Thap University is implementing comprehensive support policies for learners. Notably, the new STEM majors are eligible for preferential credit policies under Decision No. 29/2025/QĐ‑TTg issued by the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, students enrolled in majors such as Semiconductor Technology, Cybersecurity, or Agricultural Technology may access low‑interest loans with flexible limits and repayment terms. This policy helps reduce financial pressure and enables learners to confidently pursue majors that require significant investment in learning conditions.

In addition to credit support, the University also offers scholarship programs to encourage academic excellence, along with support for ethnic minority students and those studying agriculture and aquaculture, contributing to equity in access to higher education.

Ensuring Training Quality and Enhancing Employment Opportunities

Along with the admissions process, Dong Thap University focuses on improving training quality and strengthening partnerships with businesses, production facilities, and scientific–technological organizations. Through these collaborations, students gain opportunities for internships, career experiences, and early exposure to real working environments during their studies.

In the context of a rapidly changing labor market, choosing new STEM majors at Dong Thap University—combined with support policies from both the Government and the University—serves as an important foundation for learners to prepare for their careers and pursue sustainable development pathways.
