Get-together between Dong Thap University and Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City

On October 3rd, 2019, a get-together between Dong Thap University (DThU) and Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City was held at Dong Thap University. The program introduced DThU’s lecturers and students to India’s culture, educational exchange programs, and scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate levels in India.

Attending the program were Dr. K.Srikar Reddy - Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Huynh Thanh Lap - Chairman of Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Xuan Hai - Chairman of Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Minh Gian – Vice-rector of Dong Thap University, together with unit representatives, faculty and 200 students from the host party.
At the program, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Minh Gian gave a warm welcome speech to the delegates and presented the overview and some outstanding activities of DThU in recent years.

Speaking at the program, Dr. K.Srikar Reddy introduced participants to the history, culture and cementation between the Vietnamese and the Indian over the years. He affirmed that Vietnam is one of the vital development partners of the India. The Indian Government has supported Vietnam’s efforts of human resource development via offering scholarships and establishing research institutes in Vietnam.

After this program, an India Corner will be instituted at Dong Thap University with a variety of book genres in Vietnamese and English sponsored by the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. The India Corner is expected to bring the information of India to the host faculty and students in particular and Dong Thap residents in general. In this occasion, the delegates and the Vice-rector planted a memorial tree in the campus.

The get-together between DThU and Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City has helped the host faculty and students learn about the culture, history and the people of India. Besides, the program provided useful scholarship information for those who would like to pursue Master’s and Doctoral degrees in India.
