Dr. Truong Tan Dat stated: Continuing a tradition of more than 50 years of teacher training and over 20 years of development as a multidisciplinary university, Dong Thap University is proud to be one of the higher education institutions that play an important role in human resource training, scientific research, and community service in the Mekong Delta region and the entire country.
As the nation enters a new stage of development with increasing demands for high‑quality human resources, innovation, digital transformation, and international integration, higher education must strongly promote its role as a driving force for socio‑economic development and national competitiveness. This presents both opportunities and responsibilities for Dong Thap University to continue affirming its position, upholding its traditional values, and creating new breakthroughs.
With a strong aspiration for development and a spirit of continuous innovation, Dong Thap University strives to become a reputable center for training, scientific research, and innovation in the Mekong Delta; gradually integrating more deeply and affirming its position within Southeast Asia.
Dong Thap University has over 50 years of experience in teacher training and more than 20 years of development as a multi‑disciplinary institution.
To realize this goal, during the 2026–2031 period, the university will focus on implementing three key strategic orientations:
First, reforming university governance toward autonomy, accountability, and a constructive mindset.
The university continues to refine its modern governance model in a streamlined, effective, and efficient manner; promoting the comprehensive and direct leadership of the Party, enhancing the effectiveness of university management, and strengthening the responsibility of all units.
Autonomy is implemented in parallel with accountability, transparency, and a commitment to quality.
Decentralization and delegation of authority are carried out synchronously and clearly to foster initiative, creativity, and responsibility among units and individuals, contributing to the overall development of the university.
Second, accelerating digital transformation, scientific research, innovation, and comprehensive quality enhancement across all university activities.
The university identifies digital transformation not only as the application of technology but also as a process of renewing governance thinking, working methods, and teaching approaches.
On that foundation, Dong Thap University continues to build a modern academic environment, develop a digital education ecosystem, promote scientific research, innovation, and knowledge transfer to serve society.
At the same time, the university emphasizes building a culture of quality, continuously improving training quality, strengthening accreditation of academic programs according to international standards, and developing curricula that meet the needs of learners and the labor market in the new era.
Third, developing high‑quality human resources and effectively utilizing resources for sustainable development.
The university identifies its staff, employees, and learners as the core and most important driving force for development. Therefore, Dong Thap University continues to build a professional, humane, and creative academic environment; developing a workforce with strong ethics, competence, innovative thinking, and dedication.
Simultaneously, the university enhances the mobilization, management, and effective utilization of resources, thereby strengthening autonomy, fostering innovation and integration, and building a solid foundation for sustainable development while elevating its position within the higher education system.
The achievements Dong Thap University has attained today are the result of the Party’s and the State’s leadership and guidance; the support of the Ministry of Education and Training, central ministries and agencies, and local authorities; the companionship of generations of university leaders; and the cooperation, trust, and shared commitment of organizations, enterprises, and the community. The university deeply values and appreciates these meaningful contributions.
