On October 6–7, 2026, a delegation from Dong Thap University attended the German–Vietnamese Research Forum 2026 in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The event contributed to strengthening connections and expanding the University's international cooperation in scientific research, technology, and innovation.

The Forum was organized by KLU Saigon in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCMUTE), with support from DAAD Vietnam. Under the theme “Sustainability – Digitalization – Resilience,” the Forum provided a platform for universities, research institutes, businesses, and Vietnamese and German partners to establish connections, promote academic exchanges, showcase research achievements, and develop collaborative initiatives.

The Dong Thap University delegation included representatives of the University's leadership, the Office of Science and Technology, and research groups with outstanding scientific and technological achievements. Through various activities at the Forum, the delegation engaged in academic exchanges, strengthened connections with partners, and explored opportunities for collaborative research, practical applications, and the transfer of research outcomes.

One of the highlights of Dong Thap University's participation in the Forum was the exhibition and presentation of four posters showcasing the University's outstanding achievements in science, technology, and innovation. The selected research outcomes reflected the University's research orientation toward sustainable development, the efficient utilization of raw materials and by-products, green technology development, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence applications.

Specifically, the four posters presented the following research outcomes:

  1. A process for extracting and enriching Omega-3, 6, and 9 fatty acids from waste fat generated during the processing of pangasius for export using deep eutectic solvents (DES).
  2. Synthesis of furfural from xylose using a surface-modified amorphous carbon catalyst derived from water caltrop shells.
  3. The Real-Time Digital Agricultural Mapping System (RT-DAMS).
  4. A process for extracting and enriching alkaloids from lotus leaves.

These research outcomes demonstrated the diversity of Dong Thap University's scientific and technological activities, ranging from utilizing agricultural and aquaculture by-products to create value-added products and developing environmentally friendly materials and technological processes to integrating the Internet of Things (IoT), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), satellite data, and artificial intelligence into agricultural management and production. Through the exhibition and presentations at the Forum, the University's research outcomes gained further opportunities to reach scientists, businesses, and domestic and international partners, paving the way for collaborative research, practical applications, and technology transfer.

Notably, the research outcomes selected for presentation at the Forum were associated with intellectual property activities, reflecting the University's commitment to promoting scientific research alongside the protection, application, and transfer of research outcomes. Presenting these achievements at a forum attended by universities, research organizations, businesses, and international partners also helped strengthen connections between scientific research and practical needs.

Participation in the German–Vietnamese Research Forum 2026 contributed to expanding Dong Thap University's international cooperation network and promoting the internationalization of its activities in science, technology, and innovation. Building on these efforts, the University continues to advance its scientific and technological activities by linking research with practical needs, intellectual property protection, application, and technology transfer. It also seeks to strengthen connections between its research groups and higher education institutions, research organizations, businesses, and international partners, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality, effectiveness, and standing of Dong Thap University in science, technology, and innovation.
