Strengthening Cooperation in Training and Science–Technology with Can Tho City

On May 20, a working delegation from Dong Thap University visited and held a working session with the People’s Committee of Can Tho City. The program focused on discussions, networking, and setting cooperation directions in human resource training, scientific research, and technology transfer to support local development.

Attending the program from Dong Thap University were Dr. Truong Tan Dat – Party Committee Secretary; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Vu – Vice Rector and leaders of relevant faculties and departments. Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoi – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, along with representatives of municipal departments and agencies.

During the meeting, Dong Thap University presented its scientific research activities associated with technology transfer, and provided information on diverse training programs such as distance education, bridging programs, second-degree programs, part-time study, and postgraduate training. The University also introduced foreign language training programs—particularly English and Chinese—along with VSTEP, HSK, and information technology application certificates tailored to local needs.

The two sides discussed and outlined several areas of cooperation for the coming period, including professional capacity building for officials and teachers; digital competency development; the application of artificial intelligence in education; and the implementation of training and professional development programs aligned with the city’s human resource development needs.

In addition, the development of English education in schools was highlighted, aiming to build a learning and teaching environment that meets the requirements of educational reform and international integration.

In the field of science and technology, Dong Thap University proposed connecting research tasks related to high‑tech applications in agriculture and biology, while strengthening collaboration with scientific and technological units in Can Tho City to contribute to socio‑economic development in the Mekong Delta region.

The People’s Committee of Can Tho City and Dong Thap University agreed to continue enhancing information exchange, aligning needs, and expanding cooperation directions in the near future, with a shared commitment to supporting local and regional development.
