Within the framework of the GreenEdAsia Project co‑funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union (EU), a delegation of lecturers from Dong Thap University took part in a working trip and intensive training program from April 20 to April 24, 2026, at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The training program was conducted with the guidance and coordination of education experts and researchers from Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK, Finland) and the University of Burgos (UBU, Spain). The course also welcomed the participation of numerous lecturers from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT, Thailand), Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL, Thailand), and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (now Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering).

Key Training Components

The training belonged to Work Package 4 (WP4), themed “Collaborative Learning Ecosystem with Enterprises and Academia,” focusing on solutions to enhance education and research quality in the field of circular bioeconomy:

  • Design‑Based Education (DBE) Model: Guided by HAMK experts, the lecturers participated in training sessions to pilot the DBE model. The outcomes of this pilot were visually presented through a “Gallery Walk” exhibition.
  • Research Capacity Building: The University of Burgos (UBU) led research workshops and delivered in‑depth academic presentations.
  • Partnership Network Development: Representatives from participating institutions presented their mapping of existing social and industry partners. Based on this, HAMK experts provided guidance on establishing partnerships, organizing collaborative learning ecosystems, and planning upcoming student challenges.

Practical Activities and Field Visits

A highlight of the program was the integration of theoretical learning with field trips to observe real‑world models of circular economy and sustainable development:

  • Visit to the UAC Thailand Biogas Plant in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai.
  • Field study at the Huai Hong Khrai Royal Development Study Center in Doi Saket, Chiang Mai.
  • Learning about local industry‑applied Zero‑Waste Practices at the Cacao Hill Tribe Center.

Participation in the GreenEdAsia Project has not only equipped Dong Thap University’s lecturers with advanced learner‑centered pedagogical approaches and effective project management skills, but also opened opportunities for deeper international integration. The strong linkage between academia and industry—particularly in resource management, environmental protection, and sustainable agricultural development—will provide a solid foundation for the university to continue updating its curriculum to meet global education standards.
