On April 17, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) of Dong Thap University organized a gathering of former and current University’s HCYU Secretaries, concluded Youth Month 2026, honored outstanding collectives and individuals, and celebrated the 100th “5,000‑VND House”.
Attending the program were Mr. Mai Minh Luan, HCYU Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Province. Representing the University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong, Rector; MA Cao Dao Thep, Vice Rector; along with leaders of units, generations of officers, and a large number of HCYU members and students.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong acknowledged the positive contributions of the institution’s HCYU in recent years and expressed his expectation that the University’s young generation will continue to uphold their pioneering spirit, take initiative in learning and training, and especially adapt effectively to digital transformation trends.
During the program, the Organizing Committee announced the decision to consolidate the Executive Committee of the University’s HCYU for the new term. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Tri Tuc was appointed HCYU Secretary of the Dong Thap University, together with members of the Executive Committee and Standing Committee.
With more than 50 years of formation and development, the HCYU of Dong Thap University has built a proud tradition. The gathering served as an opportunity for generations of HCYU officers to look back on their journey, express gratitude for the dedication of predecessors, and continue nurturing the spirit of contribution among today’s youth.
In a warm and emotional atmosphere, former University’s HCYU Secretaries shared memorable stories and meaningful messages, inspiring union members and students.
Youth Month 2026 recorded many remarkable achievements. Activities on studying and disseminating resolutions were implemented synchronously; 100% of grassroots HCYU units carried out youth projects. At the university level, five projects were implemented with a total budget of over 400 million VND. More than 12,000 union members participated in volunteer activities; 392 units of blood were donated; and over 2,000 trees were newly planted. Youth Union development, officer training, and introducing outstanding members to the Party continued to receive strong attention.
From these achievements, many collectives and individuals were commended. The HCYU of Dong Thap University received a Certificate of Merit from the HCYU Central Committee; several collectives and individuals were honored by the Dong Thap Province People’s Committee. Students also achieved high results in activities such as the Traffic Safety Law Contest and the Digital Competency Program 2026.
The University also recorded notable achievements in academics and talent development. Student Nguyen Tran Minh Quang won the Silver Medal at the National Piano Talent Festival 2026; the Mathematics Olympiad Team earned 01 First Prize and 04 Second Prizes; and many lecturers and students achieved success in scientific research.
Launched in 2010, the “5,000‑VND House” program of Dong Thap University reached its 100th house in 2026. From small but consistent monthly contributions of union members and students, the program has created a meaningful fund to support students facing housing difficulties.
After more than a decade of maintenance and development, the program has become a deeply humanitarian activity, spreading the spirit of mutual support within the Dong Thap University student community and affirming the role of the HCYU of the university in accompanying and caring for union members and students.
On this occasion, 10 outstanding young individuals of 2026—including officers, lecturers, and students with exceptional achievements in work, teaching, learning, scientific research, and youth activities—were honored as representatives of the dynamic, capable, and responsible image of Dong Thap University students.
