On the morning of February 22 (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), in the vibrant atmosphere of the new spring, Dong Thap University organized the Spring Opening Program of the Year of the Fire Horse 2026, a New Year gathering and the presentation of New Year blessings. The program marks the beginning of a new year of work, teaching, and learning with renewed expectations and determination.
Attending the program were the University’s leadership; former and current leaders of Dong Thap Province; and representatives of agencies and partner units accompanying the University’s development.
Speaking at the gathering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong – Rector of Dong Thap University – extended New Year wishes of peace and prosperity to all staff, lecturers, employees, and students; and acknowledged and commended the collective efforts and outstanding achievements the University accomplished over the past year.
In the early days of spring, giving New Year blessings is a beautiful Vietnamese cultural tradition, conveying wishes for smoothness, good fortune, and success. This spirit continues within the academic environment as a way to share joy and spread positive energy for the new year.
During the program, the University’s leadership presented New Year blessings to all officials and employees. Each symbolic gift carried wishes for a year of smooth work and fruitful results. The atmosphere was cheerful and warm, creating an energetic start to the new working year.
As part of the program, the University held the Send-off Ceremony for the DThU men’s student football team before their departure to the National Finals of the IV Vietnam Youth and Student Football Championship – THACO Cup 2026.
Previously, the Dong Thap University team delivered an impressive performance in the Southwestern Regional Qualifiers, securing first place and officially earning a spot in the National Finals. The tournament is expected to take place in Nha Trang from March 7 to March 23, 2026.
The Send-off Ceremony was held solemnly, demonstrating the University leadership’s support for student sports activities. The team enters the tournament with unity and strong determination, representing the dynamic and resilient spirit of DThU students on the national stage.
In 2026, Dong Thap University plans to enroll 6,470 students across 58 undergraduate programs, along with 18 master’s programs and 3 doctoral specializations. This year, the University is opening 6 new STEM-related majors to meet human resource demands in the context of scientific–technological development and digital transformation.
Part-time and distance-learning programs will continue to be implemented, offering flexible learning opportunities for students.
With the vibrant spirit of the Spring Opening and a proactive mindset for the Year of the Fire Horse 2026, the Dong Thap University community enters the new year with determination to successfully accomplish key tasks and achieve practical results in training, research, and community service.
