GD&TĐ – The Charity Music Performance to support disadvantaged students held at My An 2 Primary School has spread humanistic values and the spirit of giving back.
At My An 2 Primary School (My An Commune, Dong Thap Province), the program titled “Charity Music Performance for Disadvantaged Students” recently took place bringing together teachers, alumni, philanthropists, parents, and students.
Notably, the program featured the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong, Rector of Dong Thap University, who attended My An 2 Primary School from 1976 to 1981.
More than 40 years since leaving his primary school, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong is now a respected scientist and educator. He shared that in his heart, the image of My An 2 School, his teachers, and childhood friends remains vivid. Returning to his old schoolyard, he was visibly moved by the sight of blooming flame trees, familiar tiled classrooms, and the innocent smiles of today’s students.
“This is the place that planted the first seeds of knowledge in me, nurtured my dreams of learning and my aspiration to rise,” he shared.
During his visit, with heartfelt care for the younger generation in his hometown, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong awarded 09 scholarships to students facing hardship but striving to excel in their studies. Each scholarship was not only a material gift but also a message of encouragement, motivating students to overcome challenges and achieve greater success.
In addition, he sponsored and organized the Charity Music Performance, featuring guest performers from Ho Chi Minh City, bringing a vibrant, joyful, and emotional atmosphere. The event attracted a large audience of teachers, parents, and students, and spread the spirit of “Gratitude and Guiding the Next Generation” throughout the community.
A representative of My An 2 Primary School’s leadership expressed deep appreciation for the kindness and noble gestures of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong, the benefactors, and the alumni, recognizing their support as a powerful source of encouragement for the school’s teaching and learning efforts, and as a shining example for students to follow—striving to study well, train hard, and become valuable contributors to their homeland and country.
The gathering concluded in a warm, heartfelt, and emotional atmosphere. The image of a teacher and former student standing alongside young children in the schoolyard will remain a cherished memory, reminding everyone of the value of gratitude and the spirit of sharing.
“No matter where life takes us, we always remember our old school” – it is this sincere sentiment that made the day at My An 2 Primary School truly special, a place where dreams begin and the journey of knowledge continues to flourish.Photos of the event:
