DThU - On July 28, Dong Thap University solemnly held the National Day for National Security Protection. The event marked an occasion to honor the 80-year tradition of the People’s Public Security Forces and affirm the University’s commitment to accompanying the national movement for safeguarding public order and building a safe, civilized educational environment.
The event was attended by Mr. Phan Van Thuong – Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission. Representing the Dong Thap Provincial Police, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tan – Deputy Director of the Provincial Police – joined the program on behalf of the leadership, along with representatives of various provincial departments, local police forces, and government authorities. Representing Dong Thap University were Mr. Ho Van Thong – University Rector; Mr. Cao Dao Thep – Vice Rector, together with a large number of faculty members, staff, and students.
In recent years, Dong Thap University has upheld its role as a key higher education institution in training high-quality human resources and fostering a safe, disciplined, and civilized learning environment. In response to the movement "All People Protecting National Security", the university has implemented many practical and effective initiatives – notably the installation of a campus-wide Security Camera System, which helps raise awareness of self-monitoring and vigilance among students and staff. In addition, political, ideological, and legal education has been regularly integrated into student activities and volunteer movements.
As part of the event, the Organizing Committee conducted a mid-term review of 20 years of implementing the National Day for for National Security Protection in Dong Thap province. The review highlighted many significant achievements, especially the proactive, creative, and effective participation of educational institutions, with Dong Thap University as a prominent example.
In recognition of Dong Thap University's outstanding achievements in the national security protection movement, the Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee awarded the university a Certificate of Merit under Decision No. 136/QD-UBND dated July 16, 2025. This commendation celebrates DThu's exceptional efforts in implementing the 2025 National Day for All People to Protect National Security. In addition, the Director of the Provincial Police also issued commendations to several collectives and individuals at the University for their excellent coordination in maintaining public order and promoting the movement. These honors, presented directly at the ceremony, serve as timely encouragement and motivation for the university to continue playing a leading role in this important work.
During the program, DThU’s Learning Promotion Association also awarded 35 scholarships to disadvantaged students with outstanding academic performance. Each scholarship serves as a source of motivation, empowering students to overcome difficulties, cultivate good character, and strive toward becoming responsible citizens contributing to society.
The event was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the University and functional agencies in protecting public order, while also fostering solidarity, responsibility, and awareness of building a safe educational environment – a key factor for sustainable educational development in today’s context.
