On May 8–9, at Lecture Hall 1, Dong Thap University held a training workshop entitled “Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Teaching, Testing, and Assessment” for 150 students from various faculties of education.
The workshop was conducted by professionally trained and experienced instructors from SEAMEO RETRAC (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Training Center).
The training content focused on key areas such as: an overview of AI applications in teaching and assessment; AI tools in curriculum development and instructional design (GPT Tools, MagicSchool, Brisk, NotebookLM); AI-supported lesson planning (NapkinAI, Calkie AI, Gamma); AI in formative assessment design (Lumio, Conker, QuestionWell); and AI in summative evaluation (Cograder, OpExam, PeerDeck), alongside hands-on practice.
The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of education students by equipping them with foundational knowledge and practical skills to effectively apply AI in teaching, testing, and assessment. Participants were provided with insights into the functions, advantages, and limitations of various AI tools, as well as strategies for creatively incorporating these technologies into lesson and test design. The program also fostered the sharing of experiences and best practices for the effective integration of AI tools to improve teaching and assessment outcomes.
Following the success of this workshop, Dong Thap University plans to continue organizing similar training sessions on AI and progressively incorporate AI application skills into its teacher education curriculum.
