On the morning of April 29, Dong Thap University held the inauguration ceremony of the new Lecture Hall and Departmental Office Building, now named the Building of DThU Aspiration.
Attending the event were Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Le Tan Dung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; former leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training; former leaders of Dong Thap Province from different periods; representatives of leaders from various departments, agencies, and units within and outside Dong Thap Province; representatives of businesses and employers; leaders of universities, colleges, and high schools in the Mekong Delta region; as well as a large number of lecturers and students.
Building of DThU Aspiration is constructed beside the gentle Tien River, with a scale of nine floors, built on an area of 900 m² and a floor area of approximately 7,890 m². It symbolizes the land of the Nine Dragons—the nine rivers representing the Mekong Delta. The nine floors of the Building of DThU Aspiration also reflect the long-cherished aspiration and great hope of the late Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Le Vu Hung, who, over 20 years ago, was deeply devoted to the educational development of this southern region. The Building of DThU Aspiration will become a center for learning, research, and integration—a place to ignite knowledge and inspire creativity for today’s students and future generations," shared Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong, Rector of Dong Thap University, during the ceremony.
With over 50 years of tradition, Dong Thap University proudly stands as one of the key universities in the Mekong Delta. It is among the 14 leading teacher-training institutions in the country. These milestones affirm the university’s quality and reputation in education. In 2025, the university will enroll students in 50 undergraduate programs, 18 master's specializations, and three doctoral specializations. Among these, 19 programs focus on teacher training, covering all subjects in the current general education curriculum. In addition to pedagogy, the university also offers diverse fields such as Economics, Tourism, Information Technology, English Language, Chinese Language, Natural Resource and Environmental Management, and many other programs aligned with development trends and societal labor demands.
Attending and delivering a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, recalled fond memories of the university’s growth, encouraged a culture of reading, and expressed his hopes for education: "The inauguration of a building may mark today’s milestone, but cultivating a new educational ethos is a journey for generations to come. With its renewed stature, vision, and infrastructure, Dong Thap University will persistently light the way—a path stretching from the Tien River to the boundless sea of knowledge, from the Land of Pink Lotuses to all regions of the country."
