On the afternoon of April 15, 2025, Dong Thap University organized a celebration to mark the Lao traditional New Year, Bun Pi May 2025, for Lao international students currently studying at the university. At the event, representatives of the university’s faculty and staff presented gifts and conveyed their best wishes to the Lao students for a warm, joyful, and happy Bun Pi May celebration, along with good health and continued success in their studies.

The gathering took place in a cozy and friendly atmosphere. Lao students had the opportunity to interact with Vietnamese lecturers and students through traditional Lao singing and dancing. They also participated in customary Bun Pi May rituals, such as tying threads around the wrists and sprinkling fragrant water to wish for peace and good fortune in the new year.

This annual event is held at Dong Thap University alongside the celebration of Chol Chnam Thmay, the traditional New Year of the Khmer ethnic community for Khmer students studying at the university. These activities aim to encourage and support students in their academic journeys while helping them experience the warmth and joy of their traditional New Year celebrations, even when far from home.
