DONG THAP UNIVERSITY RISES 34 PLACES IN THE TOP 100 UNIVERSITIES IN VIETNAM

On November 20, in Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap University held the opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year, celebrated the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, and awarded certificates of accreditation for five academic programs.
The event was attended by Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap Province; Ms. Le Thi Kim Loan, Head of the Provincial Propaganda and Training Commission; representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. From Dong Thap University, Mr. Truong Tan Dat, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Ho Van Thong, Rector of the University, and representatives of domestic and international enterprises joined the event along with the entire student body.
In his speech for the new academic year, Dr. Ho Van Thong shared that during the 2023-2024 academic year, Dong Thap University completed the second cycle of institutional quality accreditation, achieved a 4-star rating for application orientation, and received a 5-star rating for the Mathematics Education program in the UPM quality benchmarking system. For the first time, the university established its own Academic Titles Council. The university also rose 34 places in the ranking of Vietnam's top 100 universities, securing 38th place nationally and 2nd among the eight universities in the Mekong Delta region.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, under the theme “Digital Transformation for Professionalism, Integration, and Modernization,” the university enrolled students in 43 undergraduate programs and one college-level program, welcoming 4,331 new students. This brings the total number of full-time students to nearly 13,000.
On this occasion, two groups and three individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister for their significant contributions to education, the development of socialism, and the defense of the nation. Five teachers were recognized as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor in 2024. One teacher received a Certificate of Merit, and five teacher were awarded the "For Education" medal by the Minister of Education and Training. Additionally, five academic programs were awarded Certificates of Educational Quality Accreditation.
At the ceremony, the university also granted numerous scholarships worth nearly 1 billion VND to support disadvantaged students, high-achieving students, ethnic minority students, and international students.
