On June 8, at Lecture Hall 1, the Youth Union - Student Association of Dong Thap University held the Launching Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. The program took place in a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, attracting a large number of Youth Union and Student Association members and marking the beginning of a meaningful and dedicated summer.
Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, were Comrade Nguyen Hoang Minh Tri - Deputy Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Dong Thap Provincial 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign; Comrade Nguyen Phuc Minh - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Youth Movement Committee, Commander of the 2024 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign in Dong Thap province. On behalf of Dong Thap University were Mr. Cao Dao Thep - Member of the Party Standing Committee, Vice Rector of the University, Head of the Steering Committee for the Dong Thap University 2024 Summer Student Volunteer Campaign; Comrade Le Phuoc Vinh - Secretary of the Youth Union, Head of the Organizing Committee for the Dong Thap University 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign; representatives from partner businesses; representatives from 9 district and city Youth Unions within Dong Thap province; leaders of faculties, departments, and units within Dong Thap University; and over 200 Youth Union and Student Association members, and soldiers participating in the campaign fronts.
The 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign of the Dong Thap University youth holds significant and profound meaning. It is not only an opportunity for students to contribute their youth and intelligence to the community but also a chance to train and develop themselves. Through volunteer activities, students can hone their life skills, enhance their sense of social responsibility, and cultivate good character.
The campaign particularly contributes to improving the lives of people in disadvantaged areas. The houses built, the classes opened, and the trees planted are all practical gifts, bringing joy and hope to the community. Additionally, activities such as digital transformation, social evils prevention propaganda, and career counseling help raise awareness and equip people, especially the youth, with the necessary knowledge and skills.
At the ceremony, Mr. Cao Dao Thep, Member of the Party Standing Committee, Vice Rector of Dong Thap University, expressed his expectations for the campaign's success and affirmed the importance of volunteer activities in developing students' skills and community awareness: "...Volunteer activities not only help people in disadvantaged areas but also contribute to enhancing the sense of responsibility of Youth Union and Student Association members towards the community. Actions like building charity houses, opening classes for children, planting trees, or supporting digital transformation are all practical deeds, bringing great and lasting benefits to society. With the enthusiastic, creative, and pioneering spirit of the Youth Union and Student Association members, the soldiers of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign will achieve brilliant successes, spreading meaningful values of love, sharing, and solidarity to everyone. Always maintain faith and enthusiasm, and together build a better society!"
The 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is organized with the goal of continuing to promote the pioneering and creative spirit of youth, contributing to community building and supporting local communities. The campaign has set 9 specific targets: Donating 2 "5,000 VND Houses" worth 140 million VND; Implementing classes in English, Informatics, Math, Literature, Sports and Arts for 1,000 children and adolescents; Introducing 40 outstanding Youth Union members to the Party for consideration and admitting 20 party members; Conducting 12 activities supporting "Digital Transformation"; Coordinating the planting of 10,000 trees in the province; Organizing 2 visits and gift-giving events for policy families and families in disadvantaged circumstances; Carrying out 12 propaganda activities on drug prevention, HIV/AIDS, school bullying, and child abuse prevention; Providing counseling and support for 15,000 candidates and parents during the high school graduation exam; Conducting 12 STEM education, career counseling, and startup support activities for students.
The 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign demonstrates the solidarity, creativity, and enthusiasm of the Dong Thap University  Youth, creating a powerful force to overcome difficulties and contribute to building a better society. These contributions are not only meaningful in the present but also leave a lasting mark, awakening the spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility in future generations of students.
After the launch ceremony, Youth Union and Student Association members participating in the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign will gather in teams and move to their assigned locations to carry out meaningful tasks.
