On May 18, Dong Thap University held a training workshop titled "Applying AI in Building Interactive Lectures to Promote Active Learning Skills" for its faculty members. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Lê Duy Tân and his team of teaching assistants from the International University, Ho Chi Minh City.
The training program aimed to update lecturers on the latest knowledge and skills in applying AI to create and design engaging lectures that enhance active learning skills among students. It also sought to improve IT application skills and foster digital transformation in teaching activities for lecturers.
Key content of the workshop included introducing ChatGPT and the powerful natural language processing capabilities of the GPT-3.5 model; guiding participants on how to use ChatGPT to collect information and design lectures aligned with course syllabi; instructing methods to ensure the quality of questions and assignments generated by ChatGPT; and practicing the design of lecture contents, questions, and assignments.
The workshop featured direct learning sessions from a teaching team with deep expertise in information technology and experience in sharing topics related to ChatGPT within the scientific community. These experts also brought extensive experience in teaching, curriculum development, lecture design, and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Attendees learned about the technology behind ChatGPT, its applications, and its effectiveness in higher education, particularly in creating and designing lectures that promote active teaching and learning methods. Additionally, a team of professional teaching assistants was on hand to support participants in easily and effectively accessing and practicing the content of the lectures.
Dong Thap University consistently holds workshops to train and foster professional knowledge and skills, as well as to update and integrate technology applications into teaching practices for its staff. This specialized training workshop not only provided an opportunity for lecturers to exchange teaching experiences and discuss innovative teaching approaches but also to develop and implement effective and up-to-date training programs in line with societal trends.
