DThU - On August 23, the youth of Dong Thap University held the closing ceremony of the 2025 “Summer Volunteer Students” campaign, marking the conclusion of a meaningful summer filled with impactful projects that contributed to the socio-economic development of local communities.
Attending the event were Mr. Le Hoang Quyet – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Dong Thap Province; Mr. Nguyen Phuc Minh – Member of the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Youth Federation; and Ms. Pham Nguyen Xuan Thanh – Head of the “Rising Beyond from the Land of Pink Lotus” Scholarship Fund Project (Viet Nga Group Joint Stock Company), along with leaders of ward and commune youth unions. Representing Dong Thap University were Mr. Cao Dao Thep – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector; leaders of faculties, and departments; members of the Campaign Organizing Board, Youth Union and Student Association Executive Committees, and key Youth Union officials from across the university.
Launched on a large scale, this year’s campaign focused on two main areas—“Exam Support” and “Green Summer”—engaging over 1,000 student volunteers who made meaningful contributions to local communities over two months.
In the areas where volunteers were stationed, they supported new-style countryside development through practical contributions: road repairs, school renovations, community bridges, and planting nearly 12,000 trees. They also organized 42 educational sessions in English, Chinese, chess, and art for over 1,100 children; life skills classes on drowning prevention and child protection; and the “English Funny” model at the provincial library, which drew wide participation.
In response to the “Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses” movement, the university’s Youth Union sustained the “5,000 VND House” model, funded by contributions from students, lecturers, and staff. This initiative resulted in the donation of four houses and two restroom facilities, with three more houses to follow. In addition, the “Zero-VND Loving Breakfast” initiative was launched, offering hundreds of meals to those in need.
During the campaign, 45 outstanding members were introduced to the Party for consideration, and 23 were officially admitted.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Hoang Quyet – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Dong Thap Province – praised the contributions of the volunteers and expressed his hope that DThU’s youth movement will continue to flourish, creating more meaningful projects and activities for society.
On this occasion, the Viet Nga Group Joint Stock Company awarded five “Rising Beyond from the Land of Pink Lotus” scholarships to encourage disadvantaged students to excel in their studies. The program also honored 10 outstanding young individuals at the university level and recognized excellent collectives and individuals in major movements throughout the year, including “Exam Support,” “Green Living – Phase II,” and activities inspired by the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh.
The 2025 “Summer Volunteer Students” campaign concluded with many notable achievements. Beyond these results, its greatest value lies in the spirit of unity, sharing, and commitment to community service. The youth of Dong Thap University continue to affirm their pioneering role in building a compassionate and civilized society.
