On the morning of April 7, more than 1,200 candidates took part in the competency assessment exam organized by the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) at Dong Thap University. In addition to applying to member schools of VNU-HCM, candidates can use their results from this exam to apply to Dong Thap University.
Dong Thap University offers four admission methods: 
1. Evaluation of high school graduation exam results
2. Assessment of high school academic records (transcripts)
3. Direct admission according to the regulations of the Admission Regulations (Article 8)
4. Admission based on the 2024 competency assessment exam results of VNU-HCM.
The competency assessment exam organized by VNU-HCM is designed for candidates aspiring to enter VNU-HCM and other universities that use this exam’s results for admission. The VNU-HCM competency exam focuses on evaluating the basic competencies required for university studies, such as language use, logical thinking, data handling, and problem-solving. The exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 150 minutes.
The exam content provides data, facts, and basic formulas to evaluate reasoning and problem-solving skills rather than rote memorization. The exam format and approach are similar to the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) in the United States and the TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment) in the United Kingdom. The structure of the competency exam includes three sections: Language Use (40 questions), Mathematics, Logical Thinking, and Data Analysis (30 questions), and Problem Solving (50 questions).
In 2024, Dong Thap University continues to use the results of the competency assessment exam organized by VNU-HCM. This admission method offers candidates an additional option for university entrance.
The eligibility criteria and registration method using the competency assessment exam results require candidates to graduate from high school and achieve the required scores set by the universities, meeting the quality standards of their desired programs at Dong Thap University.

- Application form (Form 4)
- Photocopy of the 2024 competency assessment exam result certificate from VNU-HCM
- Certified photocopy of high school transcripts or a confirmation of high school academic results (for teacher training programs)
- Priority certificates (if any)
- Photocopy of high school diploma (for candidates who graduated before 2023).
