On March 22, 2024, Dong Thap University received notice from AUN-QA Organization to become an associate member of the quality assurance network in Southeast Asian higher education (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance, AUN-QA).
In recent years, the quality accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate training programs and accreditation of higher education institutions according to the AUN-QA set of standards has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training as well as most universities across the country are interested. Becoming an associate member of the quality assurance network in Southeast Asian higher education (ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance, AUN-QA) is one of the mandatory requirements to be accredited according to the Standards.
In November 2023, Dong Thap University sent the application for associate membership registration to the Southeast Asian Universities Quality Assurance Network (AUN-QA). By early March 2024, the School had completed the procedures and submitted an application to become an associate member of AUN. Once accepted, the school can participate in AUN activities including requesting an AUN-QA assessment.
Participating in the AUN - QA organization is an opportunity for the school to increase exchange, cooperation, learning and exchange about developing training programs, as well as determining the position of the school's training programs in the region. This is the basis for the school to build a development roadmap for the training program in the direction of reaching international standards to clearly demonstrate the internationalization of the school.
AUN stands for ASEAN University Network. This is a network of leading universities in Southeast Asia (SEA) established in 1995 with initial members nominated by the Ministers of Education of the countries. AUN-QA is a set of standards with many strict quality rules. Each rule has clear, specific criteria and focuses on evaluating the conditions to ensure the quality of the entire training program.
AUN views training quality as an important goal that affirms the development of higher education in Southeast Asia. In 2004, an initiative to evaluate the quality of education at universities in the Southeast region was developed by AUN through the common set of quality standards AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance). This is a set of standards that creates connectivity and recognition of training quality between universities inside and outside AUN.
The AUN-QA set of standards discussed and developed by AUN members is a tool to maintain, improve and enhance the quality of teaching and research in AUN member universities, including Vietnam.
AUN-QA focuses on evaluating all conditions to ensure the training quality of the entire program. Accreditation according to AUN-QA will help schools evaluate what score their training program achieves on the regional assessment standard.
Furthermore, the school discovered what shortcomings its training program still had and where it needed to be overcome to be on par with other programs in the same field in ASEAN in quality. In addition, it helps students and lecturers to study and work in a quality-assured environment.
