DONG THAP UNIVERSITY COUNCIL’S 19th MEETING OF TERM 2020 - 2025

On the morning of January 27, 2024, the Dong Thap University Council held its 19th meeting, marking the first session of the year. During the meeting, the Council reviewed, decided on, and approved several issues within its authority for the upcoming period.

The meeting took place under the chairmanship of Dr. Truong Tan Dat, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, with the participation of Dr. Ho Van Thong, Rector of Dong Thap University, along with members from both inside and outside the institution.

During the meeting, members of the Council discussed, exchanged views, and provided opinions on several matters, including approving the policy of leasing high-value assets in the Dong Thap University Project of Using Public Property for Rent; and approving the plan to pay living expenses for pedagogical students from the 2021 cohorts, allowing students to benefit from the tuition and living expense support policy funded by the State budget pursuant to Decree 116/2020/ND-CP.

At the meeting, the University Council members also discussed, gave opinions on, and approved the Project on Restructuring Training Faculties for the period 2024-2025. They simultaneously provided opinions and resolutions on matters related to the establishment of the School of Education, based on the merger of faculties and subject-specialty departments managing teacher training activities. This structure follows the direction of existing pedagogical training faculties, with departments organized according to training majors or combining training majors with appropriate expertise. Additionally, the University will establish the Faculty of Engineering and Digital Technologies and the Faculty of Economics and Law to manage various training majors, with the intention of opening new majors in the near future.

The University Council also considered the policy of determining targets and admission methods for graduate training in 2024 as follows: 
Doctorate: 19 quotas, method: admission, 01 batch/year. 
Master's degree: 560 quotas, method: admission, 02 rounds/year (each round from 01 to 02 batches).

The University Council has reviewed and agreed upon the policy for determining enrollment quotas and admission methods for full-time university students and preschool education junior college students in 2024, as requested by the Rector. Specifically:
Confirmation of the total quota for regular enrollment in 2024, expected to be 5,000 (comprising 4,888 quotas for university degrees and 112 for preschool education junior college degrees).
Adoption of four independent admission methods.
Furthermore, the University Council has tasked the Rector of Dong Thap University with directing and organizing the implementation of the resolution's contents within his authority. The Rector is also required to report the results to the University Council pursuant to Dong Thap University Operating Regulations.
