On the morning of January 20, Dong Thap University (DThU), in cooperation with the Dong Thap Department of Education and Training (DTh DOET), held the closing ceremony and awarded certificates for the Counseling Training Course to high school teacher-counselors. The event saw the participation of more than 100 elementary and secondary school teacher-students working at educational institutions under the Dong Thap Department of Education and Training.
Attending the event from the Dong Thap Department of Education and Training (DTh DOET) were Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ha, Director of the Department; Mr. Nguyen Qui Hop, Head of the Personnel Organization Department; and leaders of Continuing Education Centers and the Education and Training Departments of districts and towns in the province. Representing Dong Thap University (DThU) were Dr. Luong Thanh Tan, Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Director of the Center for Training Partnership and Professional Development; Mr. Tran Ngoc Thuan (M.A.), Deputy Director of the Center for Training Partnership and Professional Development; Ms. Dang Thi Thu Lieu (M.A.), Deputy Head of the Personnel Affairs Office; and more than 100 teacher-students from primary and secondary schools in Dong Thap province who are working as, or will be assigned to work as, counselors for students
Reportedly, this course was delivered to 108 elementary and secondary school teacher-students working at educational institutions in Dong Thap province from September 9, 2023, to October 9, 2023. The course was conducted in both face-to-face and online modes to provide favorable conditions for the participants to fulfill their teaching duties and complete the fostering program.
The fostering course, comprising 8 modules and totaling 240 periods (equivalent to 16 credits), is organized in a combination of face-to-face and online modes. This ensures adherence to the training content stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and aligns with the local context in school counseling activities. The program aims to help teachers who are involved in student counseling to: Recognize the necessity of student counseling activity; Understand the nature, content, forms, principles, and processes of counseling for students; Comprehend the characteristics and counseling needs of students; Apply the appropriate procedures and general principles to conduct counseling and guide students in resolving their specific problems; Utilize various methods and techniques to understand and assess students' psychological difficulties and to develop counseling plans to help them address their specific problems; Be ready to listen, explore, and objectively evaluate students, and have the skills to guide and support students when they encounter issues that need resolution.
Dong Thap University is a teacher training and fostering institution, with enough qualified teaching staff according to regulations of MOET. DThU trainers are skilled experts, properly trained and experienced in counseling students at the high school level. They also  have experience and in-depth professional knowledge, capable of researching and synthesizing specialized documents, regularly updating new documents, new knowledge, and designing typical practical case exercises to equip students the appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work effectively in counseling students at school. 
The enrollment for the Counseling Competence Fostering Course for high school teachers working as a counselor for students by Dong Thap University is currently being continued. 
Venues for the course is flexible depending on the actual situation of the DOET in the localities.
