On the morning of April 16, 2024, Dong Thap University (DThU) held a celebratory meeting to present gifts to the Lao students studying at the university on the occasion of the traditional Boun Pi Mai (Lao New Year). During the event, on behalf of the university’s leadership, Cao Dao Thep – DThU Vice Rector offered gifts and extended New Year wishes for "Health, Peace, and Happiness" to the students, along with wishes for excellent academic achievements. Vice Rector Thep also conveyed greetings to the students’ families and relatives, wishing them a joyful Boun Pi Mai celebration.

DThU also provided funding for the Lao students to organize a friendly meal, inviting Vietnamese lecturers and students to join the festivities on the afternoon of April 17, 2024. At the meal, guests were introduced to and enjoyed traditional Lao dishes. Additionally, everyone participated in the water-splashing ceremony, a hallmark of the Boun Pi Mai festival.

Speaking on behalf of the Lao student group, Kiettisak Douangdi expressed gratitude: “We are very thankful to the university’s leadership and teachers for organizing a warm and joyful Boun Pi Mai Festival for us. This makes us feel like we are celebrating the festival at home. We promise to strive harder in our studies to meet the expectations of our teachers and families.”
