From December 5 to 8, 2023, the Informatics Olympic team of Dong Thap University participated in the 32nd Vietnamese Students’ Informatics Olympic (OLP'23) and the students’ international computer programing competition ICPC Asia Hue City 2023 for the Asia-Pacific region, held at College of Sciences, Hue University.
During the past 32 years of existence, the Vietnamese Students’ Informatics Olympic has truly been a great movement to encourage students to (self) study IT and informatics among students nationwide. The competition has been held nationally and internationally functioning as a students’ practical and effective playground.
78 universities, colleges, and institutes nationwide with more than 600 students participated in the competition this year. This is an important event in the field of algorithms and computer programming, also the biggest intellectual and collective playground for ICT in the time of international integration. This helps students develop programming skills, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Attending the competition, Dong Thap University’s OLP'23 and the ICPC International Student Programming Competition team had 3 students participating in the event. This was the second time the university took part in the competition for Informatics major students, and the first time to join students’ international computer programing competition ICPC Asia. The competition’s regional rounds were held in the North, Central, and the South. The national round took place in Can Tho, and the regional Asia-Pacific round was held at College of Sciences, Hue University.
Dong Thap University’s team performed excellently at the competition and won the third prize. Although this was the first time the team named DThUConvertLL participated in the students’ international computer programing competition with everything new, the team was able to manage and overcome initial difficulties. They finally achieved positive results at the ICPC round. This is an encouragement and a great motivation for the university’s students.
The achievement proved the tireless effort of the students, their trainers, as well as the support of the university leaders and the Information Technology Faculty.
