On the morning of October 19, 2023, in H1 Hall, Dong Thap University solemnly organized its Laborer Conference for the academic year 2023-2024. The conference was co-chaired by Dr. Ho Van Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of Dong Thap University, and Mr. Tran Van Luan (MA), Vice President of the Dong Thap University Trade Union.
Notable attendees included Dr. Truong Tan Dat, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Ho Van Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University; Dr. Luong Thanh Tan, Vice Rector; Mr. Cao Dao Thep (MA.), Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, Vice Rector; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van De, Chairman of the Science and Training Council; Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Gian, Senior Lecturer, Former Vice Rector of the University; Mr. Tran Van Luan (MA.),  and 256 delegates of staff and laborers from departments, faculties, centers, and Hoa Hong Pre-school.

Overview of the DThU Laborer Conference 2023-2024

The conference ratified the implementation of the 2022-2023 resolutions, evaluated the summary and accountability of the Rector in implementing the 2022-2023 plan, reported the supervision results of the University Council in the academic year 2022-2023, and introduced the competition plan for the academic year 2023-2024. It also included reports on the 2022 budget settlement, the 2023 budget estimate, and the 2024 budget and welfare fund plan, and discussed amendments to the internal spending regulations.

At the conference, the theme, key tasks, and solutions for the main target groups for the academic year 2023-2024 were focusedly discussed and agreed upon. Decisions for the 2023-2024 targets were made, and the conference resolution was voted. There were also awards for groups and individuals who achieved outstanding results in the academic year 2022-2023.

Dr. Ho Van Thong, Rector of Dong Thap University, notified the implementation of key tasks for the academic year 2023-2024, with general directions including: continuing to innovate mindset and perception; enhancing  competency in the administration of higher education; addressing bottlenecks and utilizing resources; promoting decentralization;  depening and signifying the accountability of units and individuals in accordance with the university’s missions, vision, and development strategies; enhancing the training quality; and optimizing the effects of all activities. The focus was also on developing a quality assurance system to affirm DThU quality culture of which quality is the background and the must of all activities; comprehensively implementing quality assurance solutions in admissions, training, and scientific research; synchronously implementing the duties of human resource development, science and technolody development, and creative innovation; strengthening collaborations; taking advantage of outside supports; Enhancing the application of infotech; and building a digital education ecosystem of DThU in all operations of management system, admissions, training, and scientific research; associating administration reform with renovating management activities, administration methods; considering levels of satisfaction of staff, laborers, students and society as a measure of quality and efficiency of the DThU units’s activities.

The conference also deployed key tasks and solutions for the academic year 2023-2024, including: strengthening political, ideological, and the university’s tradition education; continuously improving organizational structure and document management system; operating to enhance the effects and efficiency in university management; developing teaching staff, managers, officials and laborers pusurant to job standards and practical requirements for the university development; developing training programs and introducing the new ones; conducting educational accreditation of all levels of training programs; improving the quality of scientific research, training and fosstering activities; enhancing the application of infotech and digital transformation; increasing international integration; training and fostering partneships, educational communication and admission consulting activities, business connection and community service.

During the conference, delegates discussed and contributed ideas related to the legitimate interests of union members. All queries and proposals were satisfactorily addressed. The  delegates also actively discussed solutions for implementing tasks for the academic year 2023-2024, voted for striving targets, and passed the conference resolution. The conference chose the theme for the academic year 2023-2024 as "Digital Transformation for Constructing, Professionalizing, and Integrating".

The conference, held before the new academic year opening ceremony, took place in the spirit of focused democracy, publicity, and transparency. It serves as a stepping stone, giving opportunities and motivating all units, lecturers, and laborers of the university to keep their minds on their work, and strive for excellence in their work completion in the academic year 2023-2024.
