On August 4th, Dong Thap University hosted an event titled "Enhancing Knowledge and Skills in Dealing with Children with Developmental Disorders." The activity was spearheaded by Mr. Nguyen Trong Dan, from the National Special Education Center – Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences, Ms. Ha Nhu Quynh, the author of the book series "Practicing Communication Development and Presentation."
The session garnered significant attendance from educators across the Elementary and Preschool Department, the Psychology and Educational Management Department, and the Social Work Department. Additionally, teachers and administrators from various preschool educational institutions of Dong Thap province participated.
Scene of the program
The program aimed to heighten awareness about developmental disorders in children, encompassing disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and intellectual disabilities. Concepts and identifying markers, along with cognitive, linguistic, and behavioral traits of developmental disorders, were discussed and elucidated in a precise and lucid manner.
Furthermore, the event focused on elevating understanding of educational models tailored for children with developmental disorders. These encompassed specialized education, inclusive education, and partially inclusive education. Educators and preschool teachers received guidance on cultivating interactive skills with children through enjoyable activities and home-based engagements, thereby fostering conducive conditions for linguistic and cognitive development in children.

The session also concentrated on assessing and screening to identify potential developmental disorders in young children. This facilitates a comprehensive evaluation of the developmental status and age milestones of the children, providing valuable insights to offer effective guidance and intervention strategies for families and educators.
Participants of the event engaging in discussions
The program was conducted in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and delight. Attendees were equipped with newfound knowledge and skills to holistically and optimally care for and support children with developmental disorders. Dong Thap University is committed to standing alongside and supporting the educational community in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, particularly for children facing developmental challenges.
