The world university ranking table has been implemented by Webometrics since 2004. Annually, the Webometrics ranking is published twice, at the end of January and July. Currently, the ranking criteria are evaluated based on three indicators:

(1) Visibility Index: This criterion accounts for 50% of the evaluation weight and is based on the number of subpages linking to a university's website (normalized and averaged). The data is gathered from Ahrefs and Majestic systems.
(2) Transparency Index: This criterion contributes 10% to the overall ranking and is determined by the number of citations received by the top 310 researchers from the university who have profiles on Google Scholar. It excludes 20 researchers with abnormally high citation counts. The data is obtained from Google Scholar. This index reflects the academic impact and dissemination of the university.
(3) Excellence Index: This index assesses the quantity of the university's publications in the top 10% most cited articles across 27 specialized fields in the database over a five-year period (2018-2022). The data is sourced from Scimago. The Excellence Index evaluates the quality of a university's internationally published research output.

To improve its ranking on the Webometrics table, Dong Thap University has implemented synchronized measures to enhance the quality of education, scientific research, and community service. Along with policies to attract highly qualified researchers, the university has also issued regulations to increase financial support for faculty members and students to improve the quality of scientific publications, particularly on reputable scientific journals listed in WoS/Scopus. However, to further improve its ranking nationally and globally, the university needs to continue implementing the following:
To facilitate timely access to information for the community and increase the influence of the university's website and image in society, the university regularly publishes and updates information about teaching, research, collaboration, and community service activities on its website and departmental units.
Currently, many faculty members have created profiles on the Google Scholar system with a high number of citations, contributing to the transparency index score. However, for faculty members who do not have profiles on the Google Scholar system, they should use the university's email (@dthu.edu.vn) to create an account and update their scientific publication profiles. This will increase the academic influence and reputation of the faculty members and the university within the international academic community, making it easier for the domestic and international academic and social communities to access scientific products and thereby increasing the citation opportunities for publications and elevating the impact factor of scientific publications.
Faculty members should focus on publishing research papers in internationally renowned scientific journals within their respective fields. This will increase the chances of citations for their published work.
