On 25/7, a thematic report entitled “1 war but 2 memories” was presented in Dong Thap University by a scholar from Korea, Dr. Ku Su Jeong, who is a senior researcher on Vietnam-Korea relations, an initiator of the “An Apology to Vietnam” movement, and a member of the “Korea-Vietnam Peace Foundation”. The report attracted more than 50 participants from the University’s Social Science Teacher Education Faculty, including MA students of Vietnamese history and BA students of History Teacher Education.
The view of the presentation venue
In a two-hour report, Dr. Ku Su Jeong touched upon the issue of military participation by Korean mercenaries in Vietnam war and the updated information related to the “An Apology to Vietnam” movement in Korea initiated by the presenter herself. “The movement has already taken its ways to initial formation and positive development, drawing much attention of many social mass organizations, especially the young generation in Korea”, said the scholar.
Dr. Ku Su Jeong giving the report
With deep understandings about Vietnam's near-modern history, Dr. Ku Su Jeong gave a clear and transparent presentation on Korean mercenaries’ participation in the war in Vietnam. During the talk, she particularly showed her admiration to Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers for their resilient will, to Vietnamese people for their indomitable spirit in the face of the invading enemies. In addition, Dr. Ku Su Jeong spent a considerable amount of time, giving explanations and answers to many questions related to the consequences left by the war and the “An Apology to Vietnam” movement.
