On April 25, Dong Thap University cooperated with the National Office of Intellectual Property to organize a training program on intellectual property (IP) for the teaching staff of the training units. The program took place for two days, from April 25 to April 26, 2023.

Attending the program from the National Office of Intellectual Property were Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of the Department, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Hanh, Director of the Center for Research, Training, Support, and Consulting. On the side of Dong Thap University, there were Assoc. Nguyen Van De, Chairman of the School's Science and Training Council; Dr. Phan Trong Nam, Head of Science and Technology Office; along with officials and lecturers who are working in faculties and departments.

With the aim of honoring the role of intellectual property in socio-economic life and raising public awareness of intellectual property, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has chosen the 26th of May to be "World Intellectual Property Day". The theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2023, chosen by WIPO, is Women with Intellectual Property: Promoting Innovation and Creativity." The message of this is to promote women's creativity and encourage women to learn, exploit, and effectively use intellectual property tools.

Within the scope of universities, the enhancement of IP capacity is one of the important activities contributing significantly to the common goal of developing a synchronous IP system and creating a driving force for innovation. Dong Thap University, with more than 20 years of construction and development (2003–2023), has become an education and training unit for highly qualified and multi-disciplinary human resources, in which science education and teacher training are the core; doing scientific research and providing community services contribute to socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta and the whole country. With the mission and vision set out, the university realizes that besides teaching and enrollment, scientific research is an equally important activity. Every year, Dong Thap University always creates favorable conditions to promote research and transfer scientific research through reports, talks, and emulation movements during the school year.

The training program provides some basic issues in the field of IP to help officers and lecturers of Dong Thap University understand the subjects of IP rights as well as solve problems in applying IP law to their activities and practices at the school.
