The National Mathematical Olympic for students is an annual activity aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning mathematics, promoting the movement of students to learn mathematics, and at the same time contributing to the discovery and fostering good students from universities, colleges and good students from specialized high schools in the country. Every year, the Vietnam Mathematical Association, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Vietnam Student Association in collaboration with a university, academy, and college in the country co-organize this event. In recent years, exams have attracted many students and have become one of the activities that receive extensive attention of all universities, institutes, colleges, universities, and specialized high schools in the country.

In 2023, the 29th National Mathematical Olympic for students took place from April 2, 2023 to April 8, 2023 at the University of Education, Hue University, with the participation of 615 candidates with 713 entries, coming from 85 universities and institutes across the country, each school and institute sending up to 10 students, to attend either or both Algebra and Calculus subjects. This year, the Mathematical Olympic team of students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Teachers Education, Dong Thap University participated in the competition with 09 students, competing in both Algebra and Calculus.

Regulations of the exam stipulate that a maximum of 45% of the contestants will win the official prize, with a ratio of 1:2:3 for the first - second - third prizes, up to 10% of the contestants will win the consolation prize. With the serious preparation, high determination of teachers and students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Teachers Education, the attention of the University's leaders and the sponsoring companionship of Xo So Kien Thiet Co., Ltd., the Mathematical Olympic team of Dong Thap University students have achieved high results with 09 prizes, reaching the rate of 90% of the team's candidates winning official prizes, including 01 First Prize, 03 Second Prizes and 05 Third Prizes, as follows:

1.Tran Quoc Huy - class DHSTOAN22B - First prize in Algebra;

2. Nguyen Top Ti - class DHSTOAN20A - Second Prize in Calculus and Third Prize in Algebra;

3. Pham Quoc Thai - class DHSTOAN21B - Second prize in Algebra;

4. Bui Phuong Nam - class DHSTOAN22B - Second Prize in Calculus;

5. Nguyen Le Hoai Dien - class DHSTOAN20A - Third prize in Algebra;

6. Pham Chi Hieu - class DHSTOAN21B - Third prize in Algebra;

7. Nguyen Thanh Khang - class DHSTOAN20A - Third Prize in Calculus;

8. Tran Phan Nhat Thien - class DHSTOAN22B - Third Prize in Calculus.

In addition to the contest time and the opening and closing activities of the contest, the members of the Team combined to promote the image of Dong Thap University through exchanges with many teams from different delegations. The team also explored some famous landmarks of Hue city.

The achievement of Olympic team is a spiritual encouragement for teachers and students in the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Teachers Education, Dong Thap University, to continue to promote talent training, enhance integration, professional development in teaching and learning mathematics. It is believed that teachers and students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Teachers Education will continue to maintain and improve their professional achievements in the upcoming exams.
