From the past few decades to now, Dong Thap University is among the institutions constantly providing high- quality labor force for Dong Thap province, companies, factories, offices inside and outside the country. Therefore, the mission of training the high-quality labor force to meet the society’s demands and serving the community as a whole is the very criterion that shows its strong determination and commitment to the issue of quality assurance.
Training quality is a key focus.
Dong Thap University, a State-run institution under the Ministry of Education and Training, offers multi-major, multi-branch training programs. The university has already completed its second phase of quality assurance and its 16 bachelor training programs have won certificates for quality assurance at program level under the stipulated criteria by the Ministry of Education and Training and the university was ranked 4 stars in the UPM’s scale for application orientation.

The University is now at the fifteenth position in the MOET’s rank applicable to those under the Ministry’s management for its numbers of ISI standardized scientific articles published in internationally prestigious journals and is, on the other hand, ranked at the forty-second position in Webometrics among 184 Vietnam’s higher education institutions.
Additionally, Dong Thap University is the region’s only institution to provide training programs of teacher education that can meet the implementation of 2018 National General Education Project.
In the 2023 admission season, Dong Thap University enrolls more than 4,000 students who will then enter its 40 four-year training programs and 01 three-year training program.

The university is planning to offer such new training programs to meet the society’s demands as Law, Biotechnology, Information technology, International Business, Public Administration, Business Administration, English language, Culture and Tourism.
The outcomes for its training programs are designed to catch up with the labor market’s requirements, so almost all its students have been invited and scheduled for job interviews prior to their graduation time and more than 90% of them are reported to get job after graduation, according to the University’s surveys.
Preferential policies for students.
Events and incentives toward establishing and maintaining the existing relations with the public and enterprise, attended by 40 domestic and international enterprises and recruitment entities who offer 2,000 posts are organized every year. These events create favorable conditions for students to accumulate knowledge, increase experience, strengthen skills as well as boost self-confidence and finally improve their possibilities for recruitment opportunities after graduation.

Teaching facilities and equipment for teaching and learning activities, experiential activities with the wireless internet being an example have been upgraded, extended and purchased by timely and considerable investment. Functional rooms, sport courts, lecture halls, library,… could best meet the lecturers’ teaching requirements and students’ demands for learning activities and doing research projects.
The University has set aside nearly VND 4 billion as the fund for catering academic promotion, rewarding students with excellent, good, or rather good ranks and students with high achievements in scientific research work, competitions at regional and national levels.
Special preferential policies
It’s noticeable that from 2023 admission season on, the University offers interesting preferential policies for those who register into its training programs after getting high results in the 2023 national graduation exam as follow:
Free tuition fee for the first semester is offered to the students whose total results in the subject group are 25 or more (no priority mark is mentioned) and whose academic performance in grade 12 is from Good and higher rank. To those who successfully enter the training programs for teacher education will be awarded with a scholarship package of VND 6 million per semester (equal to the fee for Training Programs in Group VII) apart from the financial support pursuant to the government’s Decree.
Free tuition fee will be continuously extended to students in the next semesters on the condition that their academic performance remains in Good rank and their training indexes reach Good level or higher.
