DONG THAP UNIVERSITY RISES 637 PLACES IN THE WEBOMETRICS RANKING IN 2023

In the February 2023 Webometrics Ranking, Dong Thap University rose 287 places compared to the rankings in July 2022 and rose 637 places compared to the rankings of the same period a year ago (January 2022).

On February 1, 2023, Cybermetrics Labs (under the Spanish National Research Council) announced the results of the first Webometrics world university ranking of 2023. Continue to maintain the promotion in previous rankings, in this ranking period, Dong Thap University has risen 287 places compared to the Webometrics world university rankings published in July 2022 with position 6,348; compared to the ranking of the same period a year ago (January 2022), Dong Thap University rose 637 places.

In Southeast Asia, there are 4,693 higher education institutions included in the ranking, while Dong Thap University ranks 354th. For Vietnamese higher education institutions, there are 184 higher education institutions listed in this round. Dong Thap University ranked 42nd, rose 1 place compared to the rankings in July 2022.

The Webometrics Ranking is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Laboratory team (under the Spanish National Research Council) that has been running since 2004. The rankings are published at the end of January and July each year, based on the evaluation of 3 indexes,including the visibility index with an evaluation weight of 50%, the number of sub-websites linking to the educational institution's website (normalized and selected the average value), data was obtained from Ahref and Majestic systems.

Transparency Index with 10% rating weight: Citation count of 310 top university scientists with profiles on Google Scholar (excluding 30 scientists with high citation count, if any). Data were taken from Google Scholar. This is an index related to the academic spillover of the university.

Excellence Index: Number of university articles in the top 10% of most-cited articles in 27 fields of expertise in the database, over a five-year period (2017 - 2021). The data were taken from the Scimago source. This is an index to assess the quality of the university's internationally published works.

In order to improve its ranking on Webometrics, the university has synchronously implemented solutions to improve the quality of training, scientific research and community service. Besides, there is a policy to encourage lecturers and learners to improve the quality of scientific publication, especially the publication of research works in scientific journals in the list of WoS/Scopus, etc.
