On 11th – 13th January 2023, Dong Thap University, in collaboration with The Consulate General of the United States of America, Ho Chi Minh City successfully organized the training workshop “Developing our Profession Together in a Community of Practice” (CoP) for teachers of lower secondary and high schools and lecturers in Dong Thap province.

Trainer of the workshop was Doctor Betsy Louise Parrish, US Dept. of State English Language Specialist, Professor of Hamline University, the United State of America, delivering sessions of:

- working through the steps of determining their personal professional needs;
- setting goals for improving their practice;
- experiencing several activities that teachers can use with colleagues in a CoP;
- leaving with a plan to work in a CoP with colleagues at their school or in their district.

Giving speech at the workshop closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Betsy Louise Parrish highly appreciated all the preparations and arrangements for the training workshop by Dong Thap University, as well as the enthusiastic participation of the trainees and believed that with ready-made tasks and tools, teachers and lecturers can apply to establish CoPs in their schools or institutions successfully and expand this model in the districts, towns or cities where they are working to contribute towards enhancing the English teaching and learning activities in Dong Thap province.
