On September 13th, Dong Thap University hosted a cultural exchange program to welcome Southeast Asian pre-service student teachers. The event was attended by over 300 students of Dong Thap University. This marked the first-ever occasion, in 2023, where Dong Thap University welcomed 26 student teacher interns from Mulawarman University (UNMUL) and Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) in Indonesia.

The event brought together international interns and 300 students from different faculties at Dong Thap University, establishing a vibrant platform for sharing knowledge and forging connections between nations. It not only offered students the chance to meet and engage in cultural exchanges but also to build friendships that spanned across Southeast Asian borders. Additionally, the program had the dual purpose of bolstering the English communication skills of Dong Thap University students and broadening their international connections.

In its second phase in 2023, the program expanded its participation to include students from eight universities in Indonesia and the Philippines. Alongside the 300 students at Dong Thap University, this event became more than just an opportunity for networking and understanding between Southeast Asian countries. It also offered a stage for students to showcase their individuality through traditional attire presentations, music and dance performances, cultures, customs, and traditions of Laos, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This was a chance for each nation to present the beauty and diversity of its culture.

The event featured various exciting activities, including displays of traditional national costumes, music and dance performances, and quizzes about the countries, people, and customs of Laos, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. These activities were performed by both international and Dong Thap University students, offering everyone a profound insight into the diverse cultures of the Southeast Asian region.
In 2023, Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia will continue to connect educational systems across Southeast Asia and inspire increased collaboration on the global stage. By helping students improve their English and communication skills, it empowers them to feel more confident in international settings.
