On the morning of October 3, freshmen of the 2026 intake participating in the intensive National Defense and Security Education Course 1 at Dong Thap University took part in a field march and visited the Nguyen Sinh Sac Historical Site. As a practical component of the training program, the activity contributed to developing students’ discipline, teamwork, and sense of collective responsibility while fostering an appreciation of historical traditions.
The field march combined physical training, practical experience, and opportunities to learn about historical traditions. Departing from the intensive training area at Tan Viet Hoa Student Residence, the student companies marched in formation to the Nguyen Sinh Sac Historical Site in Cao Lanh Ward, Dong Thap Province. Throughout the march, students maintained their formations and complied with traffic safety regulations and requirements regarding conduct and discipline.
At the Nguyen Sinh Sac Historical Site, students offered incense in commemoration, toured the site, and listened to presentations about its historical significance. The visit provided an opportunity for them to gain a deeper understanding of the life, character, and historical values associated with Nguyen Sinh Sac, while fostering greater appreciation and awareness of the importance of preserving the historical and traditional values of their homeland and nation.
The program also featured history-themed competitions and physical games, creating a lively atmosphere and strengthening connections among students within each company. Through activities requiring coordination and mutual support, students had further opportunities to develop teamwork, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively as a group. The field march also provided memorable experiences during their period of intensive study and training.
Organizational and safety measures were maintained throughout the activity. Students were organized into companies, while relevant units coordinated student management, safety arrangements, and support during the march. Medical personnel were also on duty throughout the activity to provide necessary assistance and help ensure students’ well-being during the outdoor program.
The field march was part of nearly one month of intensive study and training for 642 freshmen of Course 1 from the 2026 intake. The students were organized into six companies and participated in the program at the National Defense and Security Education Training Area at Tan Viet Hoa Student Residence. This period also marked their first formal academic experience after entering university.
Throughout the intensive training period, Dong Thap University assigned lecturers and management staff to accompany and support the students, helping maintain routines in study, daily activities, and training within a collective environment. The program and its experiential activities help students adapt early to university life, develop greater independence and responsibility, and strengthen their sense of connection with one another. Careful organization, management, and safety arrangements also contribute to a structured and supportive learning and training environment, helping students feel secure and giving their families greater peace of mind during the first days of their university journey.
