Embracing the Vietnamese tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source,” the journey to historical sites in An Giang Province on September 18–19, 2026, by the Vietnam War Veterans' Association of Cluster 487, Dong Thap University, was a meaningful tribute to previous generations. With the valued support of the leadership of the Dong Thap Provincial Vietnam War Veterans' Association and Dong Thap University, the journey strengthened comradeship and fostered connections among generations of veterans, former servicemen, and reserve officers. It also provided an opportunity for each member to reflect on the nation’s history, carry forward the enduring revolutionary spirit, continue contributing to society, uphold the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers,” and promote the nation’s patriotic traditions at Dong Thap University.
At the beginning of the journey, the delegation offered incense and visited Tuc Dup Hill Historical Site and Ba Chuc Tomb. At these historically significant sites, delegation members reflected on their years of training and service in the military and commemorated the heroes, martyrs, and civilians who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Revisiting these historical stories further deepened their appreciation of the value of peace and the responsibilities of veterans in today’s society.
As part of the program, the delegation visited historical and cultural sites in Ha Tien Ward, including Thach Dong, Da Dung Mountain, Binh San Mountain, the general port, and the Ha Tien–Tien Hai coastal reclamation route. Of particular significance were National Border Markers 313 and 314, the final numbered markers along the Viet Nam–Cambodia land border. The delegation also coordinated with the leadership of Tien Hai Commune to organize an exchange and experience-sharing session on the theme “The Role of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and Socio-Political Organizations in Economic Development and National Defense.”
The 2026 journey to historical sites was a meaningful activity aimed at promoting education on national traditions and expressing gratitude to previous generations while providing opportunities for members to strengthen connections, share experiences, and foster the spirit of comradeship. Through the program, the Vietnam War Veterans' Association of Cluster 487, Dong Thap University, continues to uphold the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers,” demonstrate responsibility and exemplary conduct, and make positive contributions to the development of the University and society.
