On the morning of September 21, 2026, the Opening Ceremony of the 1st International Student Challenge Workshop officially took place at the Mangala-Ubon Meeting Room, President Office Building, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Thailand.
This is a significant academic event under Work Package 4 within the framework of the GreenEdAsia Project - "Learning for Sustainable Future - Higher Education for Green Transition in Southeast Asia". This project is co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions. The ceremony was attended by lecturers and students from partner universities: RMUTL (Thailand) and HCMUTE (Vietnam). The Dong Thap University delegation attended the event with the presence of 4 lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, along with 6 students majoring in English Education, Geography Education, International Business, and Land Management.
Taking place from September 21 to 28, 2026, the event's activities are carefully designed based on the foundation of the Design-Based Education (DBE) method. The core focus of this method is connecting directly with the real-world working environment, immersing students in authentic learning questions to solve green transition issues at enterprises.
To achieve this, students from the participating countries will be divided into mixed groups, receive direct guidance from experts, and participate in field surveys and real-world data collection at partner enterprises. Specifically, the delegation will conduct field research at Lung Dang Organic Melon Farm and Bangsaen Heritage Hotel. Through these field trips, students will investigate practical challenges posed by the businesses, thereby applying design thinking to propose feasible solutions, contributing to the local sustainable development and green transition process.
The event is not only an opportunity for students to gain practical experience and improve their problem-solving skills in an international environment but also a great chance for cultural and academic exchange among universities across Southeast Asia and Europe.
