On the morning of September 18, nearly 500 students of Dong Thap University participated in a 2026 program on raising awareness of road traffic laws and providing safe motorcycle and moped riding skills. The program was jointly organized by the University’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Viet Nam Union of Students, in coordination with the Traffic Police Division of Dong Thap Provincial Police, Cao Lanh Ward Police, and Tan Tien One Member Co., Ltd.
For students, a sound understanding of traffic regulations and the ability to respond appropriately to situations on the road are essential to ensuring their own safety and that of others. Drawing on actual traffic conditions in the province, the speakers highlighted key provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety while guiding students on how to identify, avoid, and respond to common hazardous situations when traveling on the road.
Situations closely related to students’ daily travel were further discussed during the session. Students had the opportunity to raise questions and share their concerns, which were addressed by representatives of the Traffic Police, Cao Lanh Ward Police, and the driving instructors. Through this interactive approach, traffic regulations were explained using common real-life situations, making them easier for students to understand and apply in practice.
Legal knowledge was then connected with practical skills for the safe use of vehicles. Students were introduced to basic specifications of motorcycles, mopeds, and electric vehicles; instructed on how to wear helmets properly; and guided through essential techniques for safely operating their vehicles.
The awareness-raising session was followed by hands-on training in safe riding skills. Under the guidance of Traffic Police officers and technical instructors, students practiced vehicle control techniques, responding to traffic situations, and other essential skills for safe road use.
As part of the program, student representatives signed a commitment to participate in the “Safe Motorcycle and Moped Riding Skills Training Campaign,” demonstrating their sense of responsibility in complying with road traffic order and safety regulations and taking proactive measures to ensure their safety when using vehicles.
By proactively working with relevant authorities and professional organizations to bring legal knowledge and practical skills closer to students, Dong Thap University demonstrates its commitment to raising students’ awareness, developing essential life skills, and ensuring their safety. These practical activities equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for safer road use, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and contribute to gradually fostering a culture of road safety within the university community.
