On the morning of September 12, Dong Thap University held the Opening Ceremony of the Official Site Visit for the external assessment of 06 undergraduate and master's programs. The site visit is being conducted by an External Evaluation Team from the Center for Education Accreditation, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (CEA VNU-HCM), from September 12 to 15, 2026.
The Opening Ceremony was attended by representatives of the CEA VNU-HCM; members of the External Evaluation Team; leaders of Dong Thap University and its units; and members of the Self-Evaluation Councils. Representing the University were Dr. Truong Tan Dat – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector, together with the Vice Rectors.
The 06 programs under assessment include 02 undergraduate programs – Primary Education and Technology Education – and 04 master's programs – Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, Economic Management, Environmental Science, and Theory and Methodology of Teaching English.
The Center for Education Accreditation, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City was established by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2013 and operates as an education accreditation organization within Vietnam's higher education system. In 2025, the Center was one of five domestic education accreditation organizations evaluated by the Ministry of Education and Training in accordance with applicable regulations.
The External Evaluation Team for this assessment comprises experts and education managers from various universities and specialized organizations. The Team is headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice Rector of Nguyen Tat Thanh University – and includes members with extensive experience in academic management, quality assurance, and education accreditation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Truong Tan Dat – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of Dong Thap University – emphasized that the University considers quality assurance an ongoing part of its educational activities. The external assessment of the 06 programs provides the University with further grounds to review its academic programs, training conditions, and learner support activities, while also receiving recommendations from experts to progressively improve its programs and better meet the needs of learners and society.
Conducting the external assessment of 06 programs simultaneously further demonstrates Dong Thap University's proactive approach to quality assurance. Prior to the Official Site Visit, the faculties and relevant units prepared documents, supporting evidence, and data relating to the academic programs, teaching staff, learners, scientific research, and facilities, while also reviewing their strengths and areas requiring further improvement.
During the site visit, the External Evaluation Team will review documents, examine supporting evidence, and hold working sessions with University leaders, faculty and department leaders, lecturers, learners, alumni, employers, and support staff. These sessions will provide the Team with additional practical information on program delivery, teaching and learning activities, learner support conditions, and the extent to which each program meets relevant requirements.
Following the site visit activities and discussions, the External Evaluation Team will meet with University leaders and relevant units before holding the Closing Session at the House of Aspiration.
The Official Site Visit for the external assessment of the 06 academic programs continues Dong Thap University's ongoing quality assurance efforts throughout its development. The findings and recommendations of the External Evaluation Team will provide further grounds for the University to continue improving its programs, enhancing the quality of education, strengthening connections with practice, and better meeting the needs of learners and society.
