On August 21, Dong Thap University held the Closing Ceremony of the Internship and Student Exchange Program for students from Chuxiong Normal University (China) at Dong Thap University. The program comprised two components: a three-month internship for students majoring in International Chinese Language Education and a series of student exchange activities held from August 17 to 21, 2026.
Representing Chuxiong Normal University were Assoc. Prof. Cheng Junqi, Head of Teaching Affairs, School of Chemistry and Geographical Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Li Siqi, Head of Scientific Research Affairs, School of Humanities; six students majoring in International Chinese Language Education who participated in the internship; and 12 students from various majors, including Chinese Language, Calligraphy, Humanities Education, International Chinese Language Education, Geography, Geography Teacher Education, Urban and Rural Planning, and Human Geography, who participated in the exchange activities. Representing Dong Thap University were Dr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, Vice Rector, along with representatives of relevant units, lecturers, and students participating in the program.
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Vu emphasized that the significance of the program extended beyond the knowledge and experiences gained by students. More importantly, it provided opportunities for students from both universities to deepen their understanding of each other’s languages, cultures, and people; develop their ability to adapt to international environments; broaden their perspectives; and build connections among lecturers and students of the two universities. These outcomes also provide a foundation for strengthening mutual understanding and trust and promoting long-term cooperation between the two universities.
During the three-month internship, students from Chuxiong Normal University had the opportunity to experience the academic and campus environment at Dong Thap University, apply their professional knowledge in practice, and enhance their adaptability and communication skills in a multicultural environment.
As part of the student exchange activities, lecturers and students from both universities exchanged perspectives on culinary culture, traditional costumes, and customs and traditions; explored local culture through field visits; and participated in various in-person exchange activities. The activities were designed to encourage interaction, enabling students to explore language and culture through real-life situations.
In particular, for Chinese Language students at Dong Thap University, direct interaction with native Chinese-speaking students provided a valuable environment in which to apply their disciplinary knowledge, develop listening and speaking skills, improve their ability to respond in conversation, and use language appropriately in different contexts.
In addition to foreign language practice, the exchange helped students from both universities gain a clearer understanding of the similarities and differences between Vietnam and China in terms of culture, daily life, customs, and communication styles. Through these experiences, language learning was connected with real-life practice, contributing to the development of intercultural communication competence and a broader understanding of each other’s countries and people.
At the Closing Ceremony, Dong Thap University presented certificates to participating students in recognition of their internship, learning, exchange experiences, and active participation throughout the program.
The program not only provided students with meaningful academic and cultural exchange experiences but also contributed to further translating the cooperation between Dong Thap University and Chuxiong Normal University into practical activities.
Building on the outcomes achieved, the two universities expect to continue implementing a wider range of internship, exchange, and cultural programs with diverse content and formats, providing opportunities for more lecturers and students to participate. At the same time, they aim to gradually expand cooperation in education, scientific research, and academic exchange, contributing to an increasingly practical, effective, and sustainable partnership between the two universities.
