On August 21, Dong Thap University welcomed and held a working session with a delegation from the Department of Militia and Self-Defense Forces under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. The working session focused on assessing the organization and conditions for teaching National Defense and Security Education to students in 2026.
Attending the program, on behalf of Dong Thap University, were Comrade Cao Dao Thep, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector; leaders and lecturers of the Faculty of Physical and Arts Teacher Education; and representatives of relevant units. The delegation from the Department of Militia and Self-Defense Forces was led by Senior Colonel Ta Phuc Son, Head of the National Defense Education Division, with Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Tien Tan, an officer of the Division, serving as Secretary of the inspection delegation.
At the working session, Senior Colonel Ta Phuc Son, Head of the National Defense Education Division, outlined the key objectives and requirements of the 2026 inspection. He emphasized the importance of conducting a substantive assessment of the organization and teaching conditions to ensure the effectiveness of national defense education for students.
On behalf of the University, Comrade Cao Dao Thep, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector, presented a detailed report on the implementation and outcomes of National Defense and Security Education at the University. The report highlighted the University’s notable achievements while providing a detailed analysis of favorable conditions as well as remaining challenges in teaching and student management.
Following discussions, the delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the University’s facilities, food hygiene and safety conditions, student living areas, and specialized teaching equipment. After the inspection, Senior Colonel Ta Phuc Son highlighted the areas in which the University had performed well and those requiring further improvement. He also offered recommendations and possible solutions to further improve the organization and teaching conditions for National Defense and Security Education at Dong Thap University.
Prior to the working session, the delegation participated in a meaningful incense-offering ceremony at the Nguyen Sinh Sac Historical Memorial Site. The activity reflected the Vietnamese tradition of gratitude expressed through the principle of “When drinking water, remember its source,” while reinforcing each member’s sense of responsibility before undertaking the inspection.
