On August 9, Dong Thap University organized the Conference on Postgraduate Education 2026. The Conference brought together experts, scholars, and representatives from higher education institutions offering postgraduate programs, as well as lecturers involved in teaching and supervising master’s students and doctoral candidates. Representing Dong Thap University were the University’s leaders, heads of relevant units, heads of postgraduate programs, and lecturers involved in postgraduate education and student supervision.

As part of its educational development strategy, Dong Thap University places strong emphasis on integrating postgraduate education with scientific research and the demand for highly qualified human resources. The development of master’s and doctoral programs not only expands opportunities for advanced study but also contributes to fostering an academic environment and strengthening the research capacity of both lecturers and students.

Postgraduate education requires close coordination among admissions, academic programs, faculty, research activities, and the assessment of learning outcomes. Each of these components is directly linked to the quality of education and students’ capacity for professional development. Therefore, keeping abreast of new requirements for program delivery, curricula, joint training programs, foreign language proficiency, research supervision, and the evaluation of research outcomes is essential to the effective implementation of master’s and doctoral programs in the current context.

With scholars from various higher education institutions, the Conference provided additional academic perspectives on how postgraduate education can be organized in ways appropriate to the characteristics of each discipline and level of study. The practical experiences shared at the Conference helped further clarify the relationships among program requirements, faculty capacity, research activities, and the responsibilities of the units involved in postgraduate education.

At advanced levels of education, scientific research is an integral part of the learning process. Master’s students and doctoral candidates need access to a rigorous academic environment, supervision by academically qualified faculty, and opportunities to develop research outputs relevant to their fields of study. This also provides a foundation for connecting advanced knowledge with professional practice while fostering independent research capacity and scientific thinking.

Program quality, therefore, is reflected not only in course structure or academic workload but also in how research is organized, how research projects, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations are supervised, and how student outcomes are assessed. Integrating these components into a coherent system helps ensure continuity throughout the programs while aligning them with the educational objectives and development orientations of each discipline.

The presence of experts and scholars from various higher education institutions also highlighted the importance of academic connections in postgraduate education. The professional and academic exchanges at the Conference provided a stronger foundation for Dong Thap University to expand collaboration, share experience, leverage the strengths of its academic staff, and progressively advance its postgraduate programs in greater depth.

Advancing postgraduate education in close association with scientific research remains an integral part of Dong Thap University’s development strategy. Building on the strengths of its academic staff, training programs, and connections with the scientific community, the University aims to further enhance its strengths in education and research while progressively expanding programs that respond to human resource needs and the evolving landscape of higher education in the new era.
