On August 8, Dong Thap University, in collaboration with Can Tho University, Kien Giang University, and the Vietnam Journal of Education, organized the National Scientific Conference on “Teacher Education to Meet the Social Needs of the Mekong Delta Region.”
The Conference was attended by Dr. Vu Thanh Binh – Deputy Director General of the Department of Science, Technology and Information; Prof. Dr. Tran Trung – Secretary of the State Council for Professorship in Educational Sciences; along with scholars, experts, educational administrators, lecturers, and teachers from higher education institutions and other educational institutions.
Representing Dong Thap University were Dr. Truong Tan Dat – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector; Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van De – former Rector and Chair of the Science and Academic Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Thang – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Dung –Dean of the University’s School of Education; along with leaders of relevant units, lecturers, and staff members.
The Conference served as an academic forum for discussions on theoretical and practical issues in teacher education and professional development, contributing to enhancing the quality of teacher education to meet the requirements of educational reform and the human resource development needs of the Mekong Delta region.
On behalf of Dong Thap University as the lead organizer of the Conference, Dr. Truong Tan Dat – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector – expressed his appreciation to the scholars, experts, educational administrators, and lecturers and teachers from higher education institutions and other educational institutions. He also emphasized that, in the current context, teachers need not only strong subject knowledge and pedagogical competence but also digital competence, adaptability, and the capacity for self-directed learning, research, and innovation.
