On the afternoon of August 5, Dong Thap University held a ceremony to present the Ministry of National Defence's decisions to 13 male university graduates selected for the 2026 Reserve Officer Training Program.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the University's leadership, leaders of relevant faculties and units, and the 13 students from the Faculty of Economics and Law, the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, the Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Education, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the Faculty of Physical and Arts Education, and the Faculty of Social Sciences Education.
During the ceremony, University representatives presented the Ministry of National Defence's decisions and encouraged the students to strictly observe military regulations, study diligently, actively participate in training, and successfully fulfill all assigned duties throughout the program.
Over the years, Dong Thap University has consistently fulfilled its assigned quota for selecting male university graduates for reserve officer training. According to the University's records, a total of 83 students were selected and sent for training in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, all of whom volunteered to participate. With the addition of the 13 students selected in 2026, the total number of students selected for reserve officer training has reached 96.
To ensure an effective selection process, the University coordinated medical examinations, background checks, graduation eligibility verification, and the completion of all required documentation for the selected students. Throughout the training period, the University maintains regular communication with the training institution to monitor students' progress, organize visits and encouragement activities, and provide support in addressing any issues that may arise. Upon completion of the program, the University also arranges transportation to bring the students back.
The reserve officer force is an integral component of Vietnam's reserve military force, providing additional human resources for the armed forces whenever required. The selection of male university graduates for reserve officer training is an important responsibility that Dong Thap University has consistently carried out as part of its commitment to contributing to national development and defense.
The training program also offers students an opportunity to further strengthen their resilience, discipline, organizational awareness, sense of responsibility, and professional conduct in a military environment. At the same time, it equips them with valuable knowledge, skills, and practical experience that will benefit their future academic and professional careers.
On the morning of August 6, the University will accompany the 13 students to the Military School of Military Region 9 in Phu Loi Ward, Can Tho City, where they will begin the 2026 Reserve Officer Training Program. The University has arranged transportation, logistics, and all necessary preparations for the delegation. On the evening of August 5, accommodation was provided for the students to ensure they could settle in before departing the following morning.
This activity once again demonstrates Dong Thap University's care, responsibility, and continued support for its students throughout their academic journey and personal development. It also fosters a strong sense of responsibility among young people to fulfill their duties to the Fatherland, reinforcing the University's image as a dynamic and responsible institution committed to holistic education and to nurturing disciplined, capable, and community-minded young people who are ready to contribute to the nation.
