On the afternoon of July 27, Dong Thap University organized a Conference on Professional Development for Teachers and Educational Managers to discuss orientations and solutions for improving training quality and strengthening coordination in the coming period.
The conference was attended by Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Director of the Projects Management Unit, Ministry of Education and Training; Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huyen, Deputy Director of the Projects Management Unit; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen, expert of the Projects Management Unit, along with members of the working delegation. Representing Dong Thap University were Dr. Truong Tan Dat, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Thang, Vice Rector; leaders of units, educational managers, lecturers, and scientists.
Based on the orientation for professional development for teachers and educational managers under the National Target Program on modernization and improvement of the quality of education and training for the period 2026 - 2035, delegates discussed workforce development in the context of digital transformation, international integration, and educational reform. Presentations addressed digital competencies; teaching and learning selected subjects in English as a second language; STEM education; and professional development for teachers of Khmer language at primary schools with Khmer students. These topics align with the training and professional development needs of the Mekong Delta region.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Truong Tan Dat stated that Dong Thap University has more than 50 years of experience in training and professional development for teachers and educational managers, and is currently one of Vietnam’s 14 key higher education institutions for teacher training. The University is collaborating with more than 60 training and professional development institutions across various provinces and cities, thereby forming a network that supports the implementation of programs tailored to local needs.
Building on its workforce, experience, and existing cooperation network, Dong Thap University aims to develop an ecosystem for professional growth for teachers and educational managers, organizing regular and flexible professional development activities on digital platforms. The University proposes participating in the implementation of professional development programs in the Mekong Delta; developing digital infrastructure, online learning management systems, smart classrooms, digital learning‑resource production studios, and STEM practice spaces; and contributing to the development of programs, materials, and professional development models suited to the educational realities of the region.
Through the conference, Dong Thap University’s professional capacity, experience in organizing professional development, and ability to connect with localities were demonstrated through topics closely aligned with the practical needs of regional education. This foundation enables the University to continue expanding cooperation, developing appropriate professional development programs, and enhancing its role in advancing the education workforce in the Mekong Delta.
