On the morning of April 23, Dong Thap University hosted a conference to honor individuals and groups who excelled in the VSTEP Exam and the National Mathematics Olympiad 2024. The event was attended by Dr. Ho Van Thong, the Rector of Dong Thap University, along with Vice Rectors, faculty leaders, lecturers, and high-achieving students.
The conference aimed to encourage and recognize those who scored high and contributed significantly to the success of the VSTEP Exam, organized by Dong Thap University, as well as students who excelled in the National Mathematics Olympiad. Reportedly, the university's Faculty of Mathematics-Informatics Teacher Education team participated in the Olympiad with 8 students, competing in Algebra and Calculus, and secured 8 awards, achieving an 80% success rate. The awards included 2 First Prizes, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 1 Consolation Prize.
Dong Thap University has been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training as an authorized test site to conduct and issue English proficiency certificates according to the 6-level Vietnamese Standardized Test of English Proficiency (VSTEP) since December 2023. According to statistics from the first exam session held in March 2024, 53% of candidates achieved Level 3 (B1), 27% achieved Level 4 (B2), 4% achieved Level 5 (C1), and 16% were not assessed.
Lam Phu Cuong, a student of class 12CB6 at Do Cong Tuong High School, achieved an impressive high score of level 3 (B1) in the English proficiency test (VSTEP) held by Dong Thap University last March. According to the new regulations by the Ministry of Education and Training, starting from 2024, student-candidates like Lam Phu Cuong who achieve a minimum level of B1 (level 3) in the VSTEP will be exempt from the foreign language exam in the National High School Graduation Exam. Additionally, they will meet both the entrance and graduation requirements for students at Dong Thap University.
