Dong Thap University leaders awarding talent attraction scholarships to new students
 

At the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Ho Van Thong, the Rector of Dong Thap University, expressed his faith that lecturers, laborers, and students will consolidate to implement  the university’s directions, key tasks, and solutions for the academic year 2023-2024 successfully. Dr. Thong emphasized that Dong Thap University constantly pursues its determination to become a prestigious and high-quality center for training and scientific research in the Mekong Delta, as well as one of the top universities for education in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee, directed that Dong Thap University should continue to enhance the quality of its staff and lecturers as a crucial step towards breakthroughs in building the university's prestige because “good lecturers will train qualified students”. He emphasized that there should be favorable conditions for staff and lecturers to get higher education, conduct scientific research, and approach advanced teaching methods.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan, Vice Director of the Center for Education Accreditation (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Chairman of the Accreditation Council, awarded certificates to 7 training programs of Dong Thap University for having satisfied accreditation standards. With these new additions, Dong Thap University now has 23/41 accredited training programs, constituting 56.09%.

In the joyful atmosphere of starting a new academic year, the Chairman of Dong Thap People's Committee awarded commendations to one unit and 22 individuals of Dong Thap University for their outstanding achievements in various working fields during the academic year 2022-2023.
On this occasion, the Dong Thap Association for Promoting Education awarded 55 scholarships totaling 396 million VND, of which were 44 scholarships worth 7 million VND each for students with good academic grades and 8 million VND each for 11 students with excellent grades.

Notably, Dong Thap University awarded scholarships to 7/4,339 admitted students of the 2023 admissions, 7 million VND each, for achieving the highest scores in the National High School Graduation Examination. Among those, Truong My Dinh, a history education major, received an additional scholarship of 10 million VND for being the valedictorian of the 2023 admission cohort.

Furthermore, from the academic year 2023-2024, Dong Thap University will apply the policy to attract excellent students by awarding a talent attraction scholarship for admitted students with a score of 25 or above (excluding bonus points) in the entrance exams. This year, 107 scholarships worth 6 million VND each were awarded to students meeting the requirements. In addition, students will continue to be eligible for scholarships if they maintain excellent academic performance and good discipline.
