On January 10, Dong Thap University celebrated The 20th Anniversary, marking an important milestone in its journey of training human resources for the province and the Mekong Delta region.
In the period 2003 - 2023, Dong Thap University trained and fostered for nearly 2,000 masters, 32,000 bachelors, 140,000 learners of the diverse training modes including transfer training and second degree training courses, and short-term and regular fostering programs, with 32 majors and 28 fostering programs.
At the ceremony, Dr. Ho Van Thong - Rector of Dong Thap University said “Currently, the university is training 23 doctoral students, 808 graduate students, over 16,000 full-time students, and transfer and part-time students at 33 joint training units nationwide.
“Development strategy for the period 2021-2030 of Dong Thap University is training highly qualified, multi-disciplinary human resources, in which education science and teacher training are the cores; conducting scientific research and providing community services; contributing to the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta and the whole country," emphasized Dr. Thong.
The Vietnam Record Organization awards the certificate of setting Vietnam’s school record to the Dong Thap University Youth Union
Generations of students of Dong Thap University have been having lots of exciting and practical movements and activities contributing to the local economic and social development such as “5,000 VND House”, “Fund for disadvantaged friends”, “Gift of friendship”, “3 to 1 teaching English club”, “Green Summer campaign”...
The “5,000 VND House” has been implemented since 2010 and was developed under the initial names "The House of 3,000 VND", "The Humane House"… Each Youth Union member and the university staff member of the Youth Union's age voluntarily contributes 5,000 VND/month to the fund. And up to now, there have been nearly 100 houses built and donated to students with difficult housing situations in 8 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Record Organization recognised Vietnam’s school record for the Dong Thap University Youth Union with the model of "The 5,000 VND House” - A model to support the construction of housing for disadvantaged students".
