AMERICAN CONSULATE GENERAL’S SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION SESSION

In the afternoon of the 9th March, on behalf of Dong Thap University, Mr. Cao Dao Thep - Vice rector; Ms Nguyen Anh Thu - Head of International Affairs Office and representatives from Foreign Languages and Informatics Center; Foreign Languages Faculty, and Students Affairs Office warmly welcomed Ms. Sandra O’Connor – Public Affairs Officer and Ms. Nguyen Tran Thanh Truc – American Education Consultant from American Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the meeting, Ms. Sandra O’Connor introduced scholarship programs as follows: SUSHI (Study of the U.S. Institutes) for student leaders to the United States for five-to-six-week academic programs; YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative) for undergraduates to the United States for a five-week program; UGRAD (Global Undergraduate Exchange Program) for undergraduate students to the United States for one semester program. These above scholarship programs will enable successful candidates to improve their understanding of the United States; to develop their leadership skills; to experience cultural differences; and to improve useful knowledge and skills for themselves. Ms. Sandra O’Connor expressed that: “American Consulate General hopes that Dong Thap University will enthusiastically encourage students to apply for these above scholarships”
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Cao Dao Thep showed his excitement and his thank – you for the US Consulate General’s visiting and working. He also emphasized that after this meeting, he would make a plan to encourage eligible lecturers and students to apply for the scholarship programs.
